Morgan Oates Professor Holland United States History II 3 March 2015 The Assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy John Fitzgerald Kennedy, formally known as JFK, was born on May 29th, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts. He successfully attended Choate Boarding School and his Alma Mater was Harvard University, After completing his education he decided he wanted to help society somehow. As a result of that, he enlisted in the United States Army the night before World War two began. After his Navy days, in November in 1946, he was elected to the United States House of representatives for Massachusettsââ¬â¢s 11th district. At the age of thirty, Kennedy was diagnosed with the potentially fatal gland disorder, Addisonââ¬â¢s disease. He wanted to liveâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Kennedy was sworn into Presidency and delivered his inaugural address, in which he urged americans to speak out opportunities on ways to serve their country. In 1969, Kennedy established the Peace Corps. The mission of the Peace Corps was to provide technical assistance to peop le outside of America, as well as teaching them about the American culture. The Peace Corps also thought Americans the cultures of other cultures. Kennedy wanted to bring everybody from every country together and have world peace. Less than three months into his Presidency, a group of CIA trained Cuban missile exiles attempted to invade Cuba at the Bay of Pigs. The Cuban army quickly ended their efforts and the Kennedy approved fiasco became a major embarrassment to him. On September 12th, 1962 Kennedy announced that he wanted to put men on the moon. After his major announcement, Kennedy was shown pictures of the Soviet nuclear missile sites being installed in Cuba. Due to that, in 1962 he issued a blockade of Cuba the following week. The next two weeks after that were the closest America has even been to having a nuclear war. Known as the Cuban Missile Crisis, it brought the United States and the Soviet Union to be profound enemies. It had an impact on Kennedyââ¬â¢s life, and as the missile crisis ended, he was a changed man. He was bound and determined to end the Cold War peacefully.
